Nomination & Election Update
Wednesday, 06 August 2008 04:54

After some good discussion between the Election Committee and the Class Executive Committee, we have decided to re-open the nomination period for 1 week or until all current candidates have received 15 nominating votes. We felt that the previous timeline, even with the short nomination period, met the requirements as set in the by-laws.  Because of the short nomination period, we felt that not all of the candidates had enough time to generate enough supporting interest in their candidacy.

After reviewing the by-laws, we decided that the spirit of the by-laws was to conduct an election with a 31-day voting period. By conducting our election electronically, we feel that requiring ballots to close two weeks prior to the reunion is not necessary - we can close the election and tally the results electronically in minutes.

As such, we will re-open the online nomination application but we will not accept any new candidates at this time. If any other classmate is interested in a particular office, the election ballot will allow write-in candidates.

Class Officer Nominations
Wednesday, 30 July 2008 11:36

The first step of the class officer elections has begun. As of 8/1/2008, the following individuals have expressed interest in running for the offices as indicated:

President: David Cattler, Joe Moreno

Vice-President: Kevin Klein, Jeff Truitt

Secretary: Nora Connelly O'Hara, Shogo Cottrell, Tim Crawford

Treasurer: Gary Clement, Scott Davitt, Matt Morse

Per our by-laws, each candidate needs 15 supporting votes in order to be on the election ballot. You may support one or all of the candidates. If you would like to support any of these candidates, please go to http://www.usna93.com/usna93/surveys/index.php?sid=23816&lang=en.

The election committee has modified the election timeline slightly in order to have the election completed prior to the 15 year reunion. The nomination process will run through August 3rd and the election will commence on August 4th. This will allow us to have the election run for 45 days per our by-laws and complete prior to the reunion.

(CORRECTION)  The nomination process will run through August 10th, or when all candidates listed above have at least 15 nominations (whichever occurs first).  The ballot/voting process will commence when the nomination process is complete, but no later than August 11th, running for 31 days.
